Entered into the Inphun@ experience back in 2004 when i lived in Shropshire. Had been working as a Personal Trainer and Group Instructor since 1998. Retrospect being the wonderful thing that it is, offers the opportunity to unveil the irony of the fact that the name of my business was 'Rejuven8ed', however on a personal & professional level i felt jaded/disillusioned with the fitness industry and martial arts community as a whole. My background was diverse..Boxing, Triathlon, Karate & Extreme Endurance Running. Based upon the latter, the first question i was asked at Inphun@ was; "What are you running away from?" Soon i was to discover a frightening/enlightening truth..i was running away from myself (facing myself). To the onlooker (including me) i appeared confident (a con/self deception). For many years i had been seeking and searching for 'Extreme Reality' (within fitness & martial arts), perhaps as a way of 'proving myself' to those around me and reinforcing my own sense of self worth. I had stumbled upon a more fiercely honest and profound experience ~ 'Actuality'. With Inphun@ i enjoyed several years exploring the un~common thread of all Fighting & Healing, regressively~progressively~rephlectively peeling away the un~essential elements until all that remained was 'e s s e n c e'. We explored 'Morphogenic Potential', it was often expressed that "We are a rolling ball of rephlective possibilities"..Wow! I certainly didn't hear much about that in a decade of fitness and martial arts training. Inphun@ shifts and flips every paradigm in the book; 'en'trainment' instead of 'training', 'weight~shifting' as opposed to 'weight-lifting', to name but a few. Drag yourself away from the CONcept of a comfortably padded, centrally heated 'Dojo' type environ, to locations such as; en'training with a surf~board on rough, crashing, inky waves on the West coast of 'Cymru', the lesson; metaphorically understanding (standing under) and merging with the 'chaos' of life (lifes rephlective ocean), riding the shock of the experience, playing with and exploring the similarities of survival within an ocean environ and life in general, ultimately becoming the wave (opponent) thus entering into a place of harmony & neutrality. All via the medium of fun & play. They say that "Revolutions begin with a whisper", i recall several years ago quietly expressing to Inphun@ that i wished to go on a 'Journey'. That initial impetus has revolutionised the relationship i have with myself and all those that i come into contact with (family, friends, students, clients, strangers). As i evolved, so did my business..Rejuven8ed was stripped of the un~essential, becoming 'Vytalis' (vitality), pointing people in the direction of there 'Rephlective Potential' within the sphere of 'Being~Well', as inspired by 'Inphun@'. One of the most important 'pearls' shared with me was that "The signal you send out ~ will be rephlected" (an angry person lives in an angry world ~ a loving person lives in a loving world). I have learned how to / why i should take responsibility for my own 'Rephlective World' and with Inphun@ as a guide i've had..serious fun in the process. WARNING: Exposure to the Inphun@ experience will alter your perspective & perception of martial arts (and life) forever. Should you be of a disposition of needing to avoid visceral change, perhaps sticking with the mandatory x3 nights per week down @ the 'club' would be prudent! After moving to Shropshire in 2008 and having been involved in martial arts for over 30 years it seemed natural for me to join a martial arts dojo. After failing to settle down at a new dojo in the area I decided on some private sessions with Inphun@. In truth my initial expectations were more of the normal martial arts training but in a private capacity. Wow, what a surprise when I discovered an actual journey with an actual art -fighting without fighting. An analogy for this term would be when you drive a car you do not think about it but you are aware of everything around you and everything is done without thinking and automatically. The fighting without fighting enables me, in a violent altercation, to deal with the situation in a calm, functional, without thinking, ruthlessly simple and destructive manner to nullify the situation. In truth this is what we all aspire to do in a confrontation. My private sessions have been fun but serious with NO more pounding of pads or hundreds of push-ups and/or sit-ups or fixed kata moves but practical studies of various arts from around the world (e.g. Phillipino, Brazilian, Chinese, Japanese, Russian to name a few) that are simple, practical and functional. The evolving progressive en~trainment studies are done in slow primal movement which is more difficult than you think but allows you to become completely at ease with them and yourself. As well as my private sessions there is an optional once a month get-together with other students in a group session where a fantastic inter-action takes place with people who are on the same journey. In reflection my eyes have been completely opened, are totally at ease with myself and would suggest that anyone who wants to partake of this feast then you will not be disappointed in any way.
